We’ve made ‘trying’ acceptable—but it’s keeping us stuck.

Happy Star Wars Month Kim,

It’s no secret—I LOVE Star Wars. Especially the original trilogy (not the digitally remastered versions… I’m a purist).

As a kid, I actually wore out my dad’s VHS tapes. My favorite character has always been Yoda. My friend Melodie and I used to quote him in everyday life, usually laughing at his backwards way of speaking.

Back then, he was just a cool green puppet brought to life by Frank Oz.

But recently… his words have taken on new meaning.

I’m starting to see connections—to real life, to faith, to nature, to community, and to our health.

So this month, I invite you to journey with me to a galaxy far, far away…
To uncover wisdom from Yoda—and maybe a few other Jedi masters along the way.

Commit to the Do

Somewhere along the way, “trying” became enough.

We try a new diet.
We try to exercise.
We try to get better sleep.

And sometimes… we even “try” relationships, jobs, and purpose.

But here’s the truth:
Without commitment, there is no transformation.

We give ourselves an exit before we’ve even begun.

Yoda says it plainly:
“Do. Or do not. There is no try.”

It’s not about perfection—it’s about decision.

A mindset of commitment changes everything.

We see this reflected in God’s Word as well: when we walk in obedience—living in alignment with how we were designed—we experience blessing, growth, and purpose.

  • When we commit to our work, we grow into leadership.
  • When we commit to relationships, we build depth and trust.
  • When we commit to our health, we gain energy and longevity beyond what we thought possible.

That doesn’t mean the journey is easy.

There will be obstacles… maybe even a few asteroid fields.

And we won’t always get it right.

But as Yoda reminds us:
“The greatest teacher, failure is.”

For a perfectionist (like me), that’s not easy to accept.

And then there’s control…

“Control, control. You must learn control.”

But the deeper question is:
What is driving our need for control?

  • Is it rooted in love and surrender—like Christ?
  • Or in fear and striving—like the dark side?

If I’m honest, fear has often been my motivator.

But I’m learning—slowly—to shift from fear to faith.
From control to trust.
From darkness to light.

Because truly… my life depends on it.

Are you Doing or Trying?

Where in your life are you trying… instead of committing?

Transformation requires both commitment and consistency.

One of the most powerful ways to stay committed is to not walk alone.

Find a “commitment partner”:

  • A pastor or mentor for your faith
  • A seasoned couple for your marriage
  • A trusted colleague at work
  • A coach for your health

Someone who has walked the path—and can walk beside you now.

Because ultimately:
“Your path you must decide.”

Up Next:

Keeping an open mind to new possibilities and combating fear (you might know it as FOMO).

Connect:

If you are ready to move from trying to committing to a with healthy lifestyle that reduces inflammation and pain and boosts your energy, I would love to walk or this month fly alongside of you. You can check out my calendar and book a Find Your Energy Discovery Session with me. Or if you think I am out of this world, crazy and light years away and want to see if you might want to join me on the adventure you can book a Virtual Coffee Chat or a Local Coffee Chat if you are on the planet of Charleston, SC.

Yoda Quote of the Week:

“A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind.”

Commit to conscious consistency,

Kim
